How to extend a student visa in Jamnagar

I have gotten the question often on how to extend a visa here in Jamnagar. So I thought I just write down what what is needed, for future reference.

Procedure:

  1. Go to office of the International Center and fill in a form for renewal of visa. (Mr. Joshi knows which one.)
  2. Go back the next day to the same office and get the official letter.
  3. Bring the letter to the officer in charge of the foreigner’s registration at the police station, Mr Bahadur Singh. He will then ask you to bring him the following documents:
    • Bank remittance certificate (From your bank. This is a proof that you are having and getting funds for your studies.)
    • Extension form (From Mr. Bahadur Singh himself, filled in by yourself.)
    • Letter from the University (which you already have.)
    • Copy of passport (and perhaps Visa too. Can’t remember.)
    • Copy of residential permit.
    • Receipt of visa fee (Bahadur will give you all the details.)
  4. After all papers have been filled in/acquired and the fee has been paid you need to copy all documents so you have each one in triplets, except the visa fee receipt which, I think, you need in quintuplets. Might be wrong here though.
  5. Then go back to Bahadur and he will do the rest. Congratulations you just got the badge of Medium-Bureaucracy-Hassle!

Have I missed something or has something changed? If so, please inform me or comment below so I can update the list.

Ayurveda Maharun Yatra

Active Ayurvedist OrganizationOn the 16th to 18th December there will be an Ayurveda seminar in Ahmedabad. It is arranged by the “Active Ayurvedist Organization – International” and some of the prominent speakers are Bhagvan Dash and S.N. Gupta.

I will unfortunately not be able to go myself but I have some friends from the Gujarat Ayurved University who will. If you are a student at the GAU but are not sure who is going yet I can give you more information. Contacting me is easiest through G+.
